Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions which are most often asked at the shelter. We hope that you will find them helpful.
Do you kill the animals if you don't find them homes?
All animals surrendered to the Ark are kept until they've found a good home (unless an unforeseen health reason changes this).
We are a no-kill shelter.
How much does it cost to adopt a dog or cat?
Cat adoption fees are $79
Dog adoption fees are $90
Are the cats/kittens litter box trained? Are the dogs housetrained?
Yes! Cats ARE litter box trained HERE. However, when you get them home, it may take a day or 2 for your new "baby" to find your litter box.
The same is true with dogs. They're shelter trained, but may need time to adjust to your schedule at home.
Where do you get your funding?
Since the Ark is a non-profit organization, we rely SOLELY on your charitable donations. NO government funding here!
What should I do if I can no longer take care of the pet I adopted, or if it just doesn't work out?
If you think there's a good chance that it "won't work out," then we suggest that probably NOW is not a good time for you to adopt. Wait until you have the proper time to care and pamper your new animal family member.
If an adopters life circumstances change, and they can no longer keep or care for the pet they adopted from us, they should contact us immediately. If there are discipline problems, adopters should call us for advice, so we can help them or refer them to the nearest obedience training classes.
