The Ark now has videos of many of the animals available for adoption. You will find them in the pet listings on the cats and dogs pages, and you can view them all at The Ark's YouTube Channel. When you visit the channel, click on the "see all" link in the right column, so that you can view all of the Ark videos.
"Golden Years Pets"
Adoption fees are waived for pets eight years and older adopted by senior citizens 60 years and older with the Ark’s "Golden Years" program.
We have "Golden Years" pets available for adoption. There are several good reasons to consider adopting an older pet.
Older animals tend to be quieter and less active than youngsters. This may be a good match for quieter people.
Older pets need and deserve good homes, but are often passed over for younger animals. Those of us who are sensitive to "age discrimination" among people may choose to give a second chance to an older pet.
Many older people have concerns about their ability to continue to care for a young animal for its entire lifetime. Adopting a new pet, who may live 15 or more years, is a long term commitment many older people may hesitate to make.
