DOGS
AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals who come to the shelter looking for homes don't bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets' ages. Sometimes we don't. So we make our best guess by the condition of their teeth. Sometimes we are fooled. We ask that if you are concerned about the age of the pet you adopt, you take the pet to your veterinarian for the vet's best educated guess.
Adoption fees are waived for pets eight years and older adopted by senior citizens 60 years and older with the Ark’s "Golden Years" program. The "Golden Years" dogs are included on the "dogs" pages.

Dogs available for adoption
We are making videos of some of our dogs. They are linked in the pet listings.
Here is a special video about some dogs and a cat who need homes. These pets were rescued by an animal control officer who has died. It is a touching video, and maybe you can help. Tip: Let the video buffer completely before playing it.

Volunteers Needed for Ark Exercise Yard!
Our dog exercise yards are situated so that everything runs downhill. This means we can't even put stone in them, as it all washes away with every rain. The yards need to be built up and shored up so that they are level, with drainage that allows water to flow down without taking the soil and stone with it. Sadly, this big undertaking is not within the shelter's budget. MAYBE there is a landscape contractor out there somewhere who would be willing to take on this task for free, possibly with a group of volunteer help. Call the shelter if you can help. Please spread the word. The dogs at the shelter really need those exercise yards.

NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!
Large wire dog crates
Since we only have 3 conventional dog Kennels, 4 x 8 foot, we have to crate all other dogs that can't be left loose at night. We are crating the 2 pups that arrived recently, and we have plenty of outdoor pens for exercise during the day. but need crates to house the dogs overnight. We need the large size, wire ones, not the plastic airline type. They need to be dimensional to keep medium to large size dogs.
36"L x 22.5"W x 25"H or 42"L x 28"W X 30"H.
